HALF ALIVE

Half Alive, The Fillmore, Philadelphia, PA 4/9/25.

There’s nothing quite like the feeling you get at a Half Alive show. Their music physically moves through the air, possessing your body and making you move along with the melody. There’s a real sense of fluidity and synchronicity, electrifying the floor of the venue. It’s no wonder Half Alive includes contemporary dancers in their tours and music videos—the music truly moves you.

This tour highlighted their third album, Persona, and it translated beautifully to a live setting. The show opened with their newest hit, “Sophie’s House”—a vibrant track that reminisces about youthful memories spent in a friend's basement. (Funny enough, according to a source, Sophie never even had a basement; it just fit the flow of the song.)

The first half of the show flowed perfectly, warming up the crowd with ease. Midway through, they broke into a dance sequence, followed by an acoustic set featuring a mix of old and new songs. It was a treat to hear deeper cuts like "Beige," "Hot Tea," and "Creature," ending the compilation with "Thank You."

Later, Luke Olson from The Walters joined them on stage to perform "RIP," a brand-new track that didn’t make it onto the album. They also debuted an unreleased song called "Tears In The Rain," which is dropping this week—and we couldn’t be more excited to hear the studio version.

The band closed the night strong with fan favorites "Still Feel" and "RUNAWAY." I left the show with such a good feeling in my chest. At one point, I even snapped a photo of a big group of friends who had all come together for the show. It was beautiful to see how Half Alive’s music brings people together like that.

After the show, I walked around to the stage door and got the chance to meet the band. They were so sweet and gracious to all the fans who came out.
I'll never miss a Half Alive show when they come through my town.
