OLE 60
Ole 60, Starland Ballroom, Sayreville, NJ 5/8/25.
Ole 60 delivered a raw and authentic performance at Starland Ballroom, NJ, proving why they’ve quickly become one of the most compelling new acts in country rock. Hailing from Hawesville, Kentucky, the six-piece—Jacob Ty Young (vocals, guitar), Tristan Roby (rhythm guitar), Ryan Laslie (lead guitar), Colby Clark (bass), Aden Wood (drums), and Dustin “Catfish” Fuqua (guitar)—blend country, rock, and folk with a sincerity that resonates both on record and live.
The band kicked off the night strong with their opener "Dust 2 Dust." Midway through the set, “Next to You” and "Thoughts of You" emerged as standout songs, earning a strong response from the audience due to their popularity on TikTok. These tracks have quickly become fan favorites, and hearing them live reinforced why they continue to resonate so deeply.
A special moment of the night came when Ole 60 performed “Nancy Avenue” live for the very last time before its official release at midnight. The lyrics to this song are a heartfelt tribute to one of the hometown streets Ty Jacob grew up on.
They also performed two incredible covers: “Yellow” by Coldplay and “Nutshell” by Alice in Chains.
The show closed on a high note and with their most popular song “Smoke & a Light.” They performed this alongside their fantastic opening act, Fox N' Vead. The stage was filled with cigarettes, beer, instruments, and nothing but good energy all around.
Earlier this year, Ole 60 made their debut at the Grand Ole Opry, which is quite an impressive milestone for any artist. Few bands rise to prominence so quickly, but after experiencing their live performance, it’s clear why they’ve captured so much attention. Even more impressive is the fact that Ole 60 formed just three years ago. Simply put, this band is a force to be reckoned with in the music industry, and their performance at Starland Ballroom, NJ is one to be remembered.
