ALI SETHI

Ali Sethi, Theatre of Living Arts, Philadelphia, PA 10/2/2025

On October 2nd, Ali Sethi gave a stunning performance at Theatre of Living Arts in Philadelphia, PA, for his third stop on his North America Tour.

Ali Sethi, a Pakistani-American music artist, has been making music since 2013 and recently released a new album, “Love Language,” in August. Blending traditional South Asian music forms like ghazals and Hindustani ragas with Global genres like reggaeton, Ali gave the crowd an incredible show.

Opening for Ali Sethi for this show is a cappella group, Penn Masala, which is the first South Asian a cappella group formed by students at the University of Pennsylvania in 1996. Peen Masala gave an engaging and interesting start to the set, using their vocal strength and unity to get the crowd excited through performing various covers.

After the wonderful performance by Penn Masala, it was time for Ali to take the stage, and the crowd roared. Ali performed brand new songs off his album, like “Tera Sitam” and “Lovely Bukhaar”. In between some songs, Ali would take time to engage with the audience and tell them more about his personal life, like where he was from and why he makes music. He makes music to express his identity, to tell stories, and to unify his audiences.

Towards the end of the set, Ali gave the audience a treat by playing one of his most popular songs, “Pasoori”. With more shows to go on his North America tour for the rest of October, Ali Sethi is a can't-miss. His passion for music and bringing people together, and his engaging and funny personality, made for an unforgettable night for fans in Philadelphia.
