DISPATCH

Dispatch, The Met, Philadelphia, PA 6/28/25.

It’s been a couple years since I’ve seen Dispatch last, so I was excited to see that they were coming to the Met. The show had Donavon Frankeinreiter, and local Philly legend G Love and the Special Sauce open the show with 2 quick amazing sets to get the energy going. The last opener was John Butler of the John Butler Trio; an Australian alternative jam artist who really won over the crowd with his heavy guitar riffs. He closed out his set with “Zebra” and “Funky Tonight” two songs that really showed off his talent on the guitar and he got everyone in the audience to sing along with him. Dispatch came out and started off their set with “Circles Around the Sun” and instantly brought the energy by jumping all over the stage. The crowd was in for a special surprise as the band dedicated a song to one of the best people in the Philly music scene; Louis a local security guard at the Met. Louis had requested that they play “Passerby” and they said they could do it if they brought opener John Butler up to play it with them. The crowd really reacted to this song and erupted in cheer when singer Chadwick Stokes jumped super high in the air while jamming. Another awesome moment was when they played a fan favorite of “Only the Wild Ones” and you could see a sea of hands in the air and had everyone singing along. They brought G Love to do another hit of theirs “Bang Bang” which got the crowd moving. Another cool part of the show was all of the covers the band did, they started with a cover of State Love’s “Calling All Crows” then went into Crosby Stills Nash and Young’s “Ohio”. A few songs later they covered The Rolling Stones and then they closed out their encore with another cover bringing out first opener Donavon Frankenreiter to sing Bob Dylan’s “Like A Rolling Stone”. It was an amazing night in Philadelphia.
