THE KOOKS

The Kooks, The Fillmore, Philadelphia, PA 5/30/25.

As a lifelong Kooks fan I couldn’t wait to see them back in Philly. The opener for the show was LovelyTheBand an artist that the local alternative radio station has been playing for years. They engaged the Philly fans well and said how much he liked the cheesesteaks which got a big cheer. Before they played their hit song “Broken” the singer mentioned how he was in a dark place when he wrote it and how his fellow band member checked in on him and how you should make sure to check on your friends. He had the crowd sing along to the chorus and then they got a huge ovation when the song was over and they took a bow. The Kooks came out to “Sofa Song” a classic hit from 2006 which brought a sense of nostalgia over Philadelphia. They continued with the classics and played “Ooh La” another from the Inside In/Inside Out album. They asked everyone if they wanted to hear a new song and everybody cheered knowing they were going to play “Sunny Baby” an already popular song off of their new Never Know album. Another cool moment in the show was when they brought opener LovelyTheBand back out to sing their collab of “Jeannie” together for the first time ever. A couple songs later they played “Seaside” and the audience sang along every word to the song. They closed out their set with “Junk Of The Heart” but were able to be persuaded by the Philly fans to play two more songs and they ended with the song everybody had been waiting for; “Naive”. They gave a bow to the crowd and waved and thanked the fans for an incredible night.
